On January 12, 2023, Beijing Oriental Yuhong Waterproof Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Oriental Yuhong”) organized a symposium with Peking University. This symposium aims at promoting collaborative innovation between schools and enterprises. Xiang Jinming, the Vice Chairman and Executive President of Oriental Yuhong, Ding Hongmei, the Technical Director, Song Jianrong, the Director of Oriental Yuhong-State Key Laboratory of Special Functional Waterproof Materials, Zhang Man, the Manager of Public Affairs Department, Zou Ruqiang,the Secretary of the CPC School of Materials Science and Engineering Committee and the Dean of School of Materials Science and Engineering (SMSE), Guo Shaojun, the Deputy Secretary ofthe CPC School of Materials Science and Engineering Committee, Zhou Huanping, the Deputy Dean of SMSE, Lei Ting, the Assistant Dean of SMSE, Liu Jincheng,the Director of SMSE’s Officeand relevant personnel attended the symposium. This symposium was held in Room 137 of the Integrated Science Research Center and was presided over by Dean Zou Ruqiang.

Zou Ruqiang warmly welcomed Xiang Jinming and his delegation and expressed SMSE’s support for the cooperation between the two sides and their hope of further leveraging their respective advantages, establishing a deeper cooperation mechanism,strengthening cooperation, and achieving joint development.

Song Jianrong introduced Oriental Yuhong in detail from the aspects of product-service system, capacity strength, business performance, capital market, etc. In addition, he gave a brief introduction to the Oriental Yuhong-State Key Laboratory of Special Functional Waterproof Materials and put forward suggestions on the cooperation mode and direction of the two sides.

Ding Hongmei expressed the hope that both sides will work together to actively respond to the national demands in the field of materials, cooperate in fields such as high toughness and impact-resistant materials, fiber and its composite materials, energy-saving insulation materials, anti-corrosion materials, etc., and make joint progress.

Zhou Huanping introduced the history, talent cultivation, faculty, discipline positioning and goals, research platforms and achievements, domestic cooperation, international exchanges, social services, etc. of SMSE, Peking University. Furthermore, theattendees conducted in-depth discussions on the modes and plans for collaborative research in the field of materials.

This symposium has laid a solid foundation for the subsequent cooperation between Beijing Oriental Yuhong and SMSE, Peking University. Both sides expressed that, on the basis of in-depth exchanges, they will further engage in in-depth cooperation in scientific research, achievement transformation, state key laboratory restructuring, etc. In the next step, both sides will comprehensively sort out the fields of cooperation, form an institutionalized cooperation mechanism, strengthen deep integration in the field of materials, work together to help solve major fundamental problems in the Chinese materials industry, and make more contributions to promoting the development of Chinese materials industry.
