The 29thPeking University Sports Cultural Festival & Spring Sports Meeting was held at the Wu-si Sports Center on April 22-23, 2022.
On the morning of April 23, the sports meeting kicked off with the exciting song “The march of the athletes”. Leading by Zou Ruqiang, the Secretary of the CPC School of Materials Science and Engineering (SMSE) Committee, Zhou Huanping, the Deputy Dean ofSMSE, Guo Shaojun and Zhang Jing, the Deputy Secretaries of the CPC SMSE Committee, and Lei Ting, the Assistant Dean of SMSE, teachers and students of SMSE held the flag of SMSE, smiled, chanted the slogans andmarched in orderly with accompaniment. With the principle of “making materials that bring real benefits to human development”, they displayed the vitality and endeavor of sportsmanship and showed the unique spirit of SMSE.

At the opening ceremony, 10 faculty members represented SMSE to participate in the gymnastics performance “Pursuing Dreams with One Aim”. The performance combines drum dance, dragon dance and Taijiquan and embodies the spiritual core of Chinese traditional culture.

At this sports meeting, the faculty of SMSE participated in 12 sports:athletics men’s 1500m, men’s shot-put, women’s long jump,men’s long jump of group A/B,mixed teachers’ 4*100m relay (2 men and 2 women),mixed teachers’ rope skipping,mixed teachers’ sack race relay,mixed teachers’ “caterpillar race”,mixed teachers’ steps gameandmixed teachers’ game “Volleyball on the Drum”. The athletes competed the competitions with vitality and fighting spirit and displayed the sports spirit, happiness and cooperation in applause.

Teacher Lv Shixian participated in men’s long jump of group B.
Mo Fanyang, Zhao Xiaoxu, Liu Lili and Peng Junyi participated in mixed teachers’ 4*100m relay (2 men and 2 women).
Liu Lili, Zhang Lanying, Zhang Yanfeng, Jiao Kun, etc., a total of 12 teachers participated in the mixed teachers’ rope skipping.
Mo Fanyang, Wang Guanyi, Zhao Xiaoxu, Li Weina, etc., a total of 6 teachers participated in the mixed teachers’ sack race relay.
Sun Qiming, Liu Jincheng, Lv Jia, Yuan Miaomiao, etc., a total of 8 teachers participated in the mixed teachers’ “caterpillar race”.
Xu Shenzhen, Liu Yatao, etc., a total of 8 teachers participated in the mixed teachers’ steps game.
Pang Quanquan, Dou Jinhu, Xu Shenzhen, etc., a total of 9 people participated in the mixed teachers’ game “Volleyball on the Drum”.
With this sports meeting, teachers and students exercised their physique and spirit and displayed the youth and vigor of SMSE. SMSE will respond to the philosophy of “sports should be taken as the first part of holistic development”, actively participate in all kinds of sports, spread the sports spirit of struggle, be well-prepared for challenges, forge ahead bravely, follow the rhythm of time, and move forward together for a shared future!
